If you’re in the middle of a layoff-driven search, this is your weekly check-in thread.
This space is for honest updates. Not “grind harder” energy. Not forced optimism. Just real people comparing notes, sharing what worked (or didn’t), and taking one more step.
A few prompts to choose from (answer any, skip any):
1) What moved forward this week? Applications sent (how many, what types) Replies, screens, interviews, referrals A portfolio update, a new project, a certification module finished
2) What was hard or stalled? Ghosting, rejections, rescinded roles Motivation dips, burnout, stress, logistics “I did everything right and still got a no” moments
3) What did you learn? A keyword you’re missing, a stronger story, a better target list A networking message that got responses A process change you’re making next week
4) What’s your next step (one concrete thing)? Keep it small and specific: “reach out to 3 people,” “tighten one bullet on the resume,” “practice one interview story,” “take a full day off,” “follow up on two threads.”
5) If you want help, ask clearly. Examples: “Can someone sanity-check my outreach note?” “How do you explain a layoff in one line?” “Any leads for [role] in [location/remote]?”
You don’t need to have a win to post here. Showing up counts.
What’s one thing you’re proud of this week, and one thing you want to change next week?
