Job Summary
We are seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the ownership, transition, and evolution of complex embedded software platforms supporting advanced printing technologies and adjacent system applications.
This role will serve as the technical leader based in India, driving software, firmware, and hardware integration across existing products, next-generation platforms, and emerging system domains.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in embedded systems and FPGA-based design, along with proven leadership in platform ownership and cross-site collaboration.
Responsibilities
Platform Ownership & Transition Lead the end-to-end transition of embedded system software ownership from global teams to India, ensuring continuity in quality, delivery, and customer experience Own released-product support, including system software, tools, and application layers Drive defect resolution, enhancements, and cross-site engineering coordination Take ownership of system configuration, calibration, and platform-level optimizations
New Product Development & Platform Evolution Support new product introductions by leading embedded software development for new hardware platforms Drive migration from legacy systems to modern, scalable software architectures Contribute to next-generation platform design and long-term system enhancements
Embedded Platform Expansion Expand capabilities into embedded control systems beyond traditional printing applications Drive development of measurement, validation, and test systems for emerging platforms Contribute to exploration and development of adjacent system technologies
System Architecture & Technology Leadership Partner with global teams to define system architecture and product roadmaps Drive platform modernization, refactoring, and scalability initiatives Define long-term strategies for system performance, flexibility, and capability expansion Ensure documentation, lifecycle planning, and system sustainability
System Integration & Engineering Own end-to-end integration across software, firmware, and hardware systems Lead system-level debugging across embedded systems, electronics interfaces, and control systems Solve complex cross-domain engineering problems involving software and hardware interactions
Manufacturing & Production Support Support global manufacturing operations by ensuring software readiness for production environments Collaborate with manufacturing and test engineering teams on production issues and system validation Enable development and deployment of production test and characterization tools
Team Leadership & Capability Development Build and lead an engineering team in India to establish long-term platform ownership Mentor engineers across embedded software, FPGA, firmware, and system integration domains Drive knowledge transfer, documentation, and capability scaling
Stakeholder Collaboration Act as the primary technical leader in India for global engineering and manufacturing teams Partner with cross-functional stakeholders across R&D, operations, and product teams Align priorities, roadmaps, and delivery across distributed teams
Education & Experience Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field 12+ years of experience in embedded systems, firmware, or platform software development Proven experience leading complex platform ownership and cross-site transitions
Required Skills (Must Have) Strong expertise in embedded systems design and development Hands-on experience with FPGA design and development (required) Experience with hardware-software integration and real-time systems Deep understanding of system architecture and platform design Proven ability to debug and resolve complex system-level issues Strong leadership in driving large-scale engineering programs
Preferred Skills Experience with hardware control systems or embedded system platforms Exposure to manufacturing systems or industrial platforms Experience in building and scaling engineering teams
