Zendesk new grad SWE: how long does the process take?

jp_newgrad · 4 replies

Applied to a new grad software engineer role at Zendesk about 2 weeks ago. Got a recruiter email for a screen, have that next Thursday. I've been trying to find timeline info and it's all over the place.

For people who've been through it recently: how many rounds total and how long between each one? I'm also doing other onsites at the same time and trying to figure out if I can stall/accelerate at all.

Also is the technical screen more LeetCode or more practical/project-based? I've seen both described and I really can't tell which to prep for.

I interviewed for a junior role (not new grad program specifically) last spring. Recruiter screen to offer was about 5 weeks total. There was a take-home coding project and then a virtual onsite with 3 rounds. The coding wasn't LeetCode hard, more like build a small thing and explain your decisions.

timeline varies SO much by team. i did a mobile role and it was 4 weeks. my friend did a backend role and it was 7 weeks and one round had to be rescheduled twice. factor in buffer time if you have competing offers.

7 weeks is rough. I have an offer deadline from another place in 3.5 weeks so I might need to ask for an extension. Did you find the recruiter was responsive when you pinged for updates?

mine was responsive once I set a deadline. just be honest: 'I have a competing offer with a decision date of X, can we prioritize?' they've heard it before. don't be weird about it.
