got a Workday loop scheduled for backend SWE in about 3 weeks. role is on the platform infrastructure side.
been doing research but most posts i find are from 2022 or 2023. their process seems like it could have changed. if anyone has done a loop recently (2025-2026) would love to hear: how many rounds total what kind of coding questions (style, difficulty) did they do any take-home or was it all live coding anything specific to the infrastructure/platform roles vs product eng
thanks in advance, just trying to not walk in blind.

did a platform infra loop at Workday in early 2026. four rounds, all live coding + discussion. no take-home. coding was: one easy warm-up (string manipulation), one medium graph/BFS problem, one system design (i got a distributed job scheduler, had to talk about fault tolerance and backoff). behavioral was one round, 45 min, all STAR. it was fine, nothing tricky.

not infra specifically but i interviewed on the SRE adjacent team about 5 months ago. live coding was LC medium difficulty. the system design was very ops-flavored, they asked about an on-call escalation system. they wanted me to think about alerting thresholds and data retention, not just the happy path. that surprised me a little.

the on-call angle is a good heads up. platform stuff probably has similar flavor. i'll make sure i can talk about failure modes not just scale.

heard from a friend who just went through it: they're still doing all-live-coding, no take-homes, at least for backend. format was coderpad. two interviewers per coding round which was a bit weird at first but fine once you're talking through your approach.
