Wayfair runs a fairly structured loop that tends to run 4-5 rounds for software roles: a recruiter screen, a take-home or online assessment, 2-3 technical interviews (coding + system design), and a behavioral/values round. They move fast once you're in the pipeline, but there can be a slow ramp getting to that first call.
On the technical side, expect standard DSA coding rounds with a Wayfair-flavored twist: they care a lot about e-commerce and supply chain context. System design questions often involve catalog search, recommendation systems, or inventory/fulfillment at scale. Come with opinions on tradeoffs, not just textbook answers.
Behavioral interviews lean into their operating principles. They ask a lot about data-driven decisions, customer obsession, and navigating ambiguity. Cross-functional influence questions come up heavily for senior roles.
Wayfair has gone through a few rounds of layoffs in recent years and the team is leaner, which shows in how they interview: they want people who can do a lot with less and who are comfortable in a fast-moving, sometimes chaotic environment. Culture-fit signals matter. Come prepared to talk about how you've operated under pressure.
