got a verbal offer from walgreens last week for a data analyst role, recruiter said formal offer comes after background check clears. it's been 8 days and i haven't heard anything. is this normal?
i know i have nothing to worry about in terms of what's in the background check, i just get anxious when things go quiet. did anyone else have a long gap between verbal offer and formal paperwork? recruiter hasn't responded to my follow-up from 4 days ago either.
8 days for a background check at a company this size is pretty normal, honestly. their HR systems are probably Enterprise-grade slow. if it gets to 2+ weeks without word, email your recruiter directly with a specific question ("has the background check vendor confirmed receipt?") rather than a generic follow-up. specific questions get responses, vague check-ins don't.
oh that's a good tip on being specific. i just asked "any updates?" which probably gets buried. will try again with an actual question.
went through walgreens background check last year, took 11 business days. formal offer came on day 12. i was spiraling by day 8. it's probably fine.
