finished my final panel for a technology analyst role at UnitedHealthcare (not Optum) last Thursday. recruiter said i'd hear back in 'a week or two.' it's been 8 days and i've heard nothing.
is this normal? should i follow up? i have another offer expiring in 3 weeks and i really want to give UHG a shot but i can't wait indefinitely. also slightly panicking because i googled and found posts saying their process can take 6+ weeks and i don't know if that's for this type of role or something else.
anyone have recent experience with the UHC (not Optum) side specifically?

follow up at day 10. email, not call. something like: 'wanted to check in on timing, i have a competing offer with a decision date of [date] and UHG is my first choice.' stating the deadline politely is the only thing that actually accelerates anything. they may still not move but at least it's on record.

8 days at a company this size isn't unusual, especially if there are approval layers above the hiring manager. the 'week or two' range is real, not a brush-off. that said, if you have a real competing deadline, surface it now. don't wait until day 14.

i've heard anywhere from 5 days to 5 weeks for UHG offers depending on the division and headcount approval status. tech analyst roles sometimes have extra budget sign-off steps that engineering roles don't. hang in there.
