got an offer last month for a senior SWE role (effectively L4 by their internal leveling) on one of the Optum platform teams. sharing numbers because i spent too long not finding anything current.
base: $138k annual target bonus: 10% of base ($13.8k target, paid once a year, not guaranteed) RSUs: $60k grant, 4-year vest, 25% per year. no cliff, first payout at 12 months. total target year 1: roughly $165k including target bonus
benefits: solid health coverage (obviously), 401k with match, 3 weeks PTO + 8 holidays. HSA option with employer contribution.
Minneapolis market, not remote. fully in-office 3 days a week.
comp is below pure-tech for the same level but healthcare stability + benefits package closes some of the gap. i negotiated base up $8k from first offer by citing market data. they moved without much friction.

$138k base for senior in Minneapolis is solidly above market for that metro. NYC/SF comp would be $185-220k+ base for comparable level at pure-tech, but cost of living math makes this reasonable if you're anchored there. the 4-year vest with no cliff is a positive structure.

10% bonus target at that company class is worth noting: healthcare bonuses actually pay out more consistently than startup bonuses. i've seen UHG bonus payouts at 90-110% of target in most years. worth factoring that in differently than a startup 'potential' bonus.

yeah the recruiter confirmed it's been above target payout 3 of the last 4 years. not factoring it in at 100% but it's not the theoretical number some tech company bonuses are.

the 3 days in-office in Minneapolis in February is doing a lot of heavy lifting as a con for me personally but that's a me problem.
