TSMC interview loops can look different by site and role, but candidates consistently describe a few repeatable stages. Here’s what each stage is usually screening for, plus mistakes we see most often. 1) Recruiter screen What it screens for: Baseline fit and constraints. For engineering roles, this often includes degree focus, shift expectations, and location flexibility. For planning roles, it can center on scope, stakeholder management, and experience in capacity constrained environments. Common mistakes: Vague availability (shifts, relocation), over indexing on buzzwords, or not being able to summarize your core project impact in 60 to 90 seconds. 2) Hiring manager screen What it screens for: Role clarity and how you operate day to day. For supply chain planning, candidates report emphasis on prioritization under conflicting demands and communication with manufacturing and procurement. Common mistakes: Talking only in outcomes, not decision logic. Not naming stakeholders, escalation paths, or tradeoffs. 3) Technical interviews (engineers and senior engineers) What it screens for: Fundamentals plus problem solving structure. Candidates report topics like troubleshooting mindset and instrumentation (equipment), semiconductor fundamentals and tradeoffs (integration), and scenario planning under constraints (planning). Common mistakes: “I’d just check everything” troubleshooting, skipping data and hypotheses, or not showing safety first and procedural discipline where relevant. 4) Panel loop and cross-functional 1:1s What it screens for: How you collaborate across interfaces. Candidates report interviews spanning integration, module, yield, manufacturing, and procurement counterparts. Common mistakes: Treating it like separate interviews instead of a coherent narrative, or failing to communicate tradeoffs transparently. 5) Case discussion or short presentation (sometimes) What it screens for: How you structure ambiguous problems. Examples reported include managing demand supply gaps, expedite constraints, and supplier risk, or presenting past technical projects. Common mistakes: Slides without a clear decision framework, no containment or rollback criteria, and no linkage from S&OP level decisions to daily execution (for planning).
