i'm based in the UK, have 5 years of product experience, and Tesla keeps showing up in my search. a few roles say remote-eligible but i'm not sure if that means anything for non-US applicants.
does Tesla actually sponsor H1B for new hires right now? or is that effectively a no-go unless you're already authorized? i've seen very mixed things online and nothing recent.
also curious if they interview candidates outside the US for roles that would require relocation. do they do virtual on-sites or is it expected you'd fly in?

tesla does sponsor, but it varies heavily by org and hiring manager. some teams are fine with it, others won't consider it because of the timeline overhead. i'd be upfront with the recruiter in the first call rather than letting it come out late. wastes everyone's time otherwise.

from what i've seen: they'll do virtual on-sites for initial rounds for international candidates but if it gets to offer they're usually expecting you to relocate. 'remote-eligible' at Tesla is mostly for US-based remote workers, not international hire. might be different for certain eng orgs but i'd verify before investing heavily.

that's really helpful. the 'remote-eligible for US people only' interpretation matches what i've heard elsewhere. might not be the right move right now then.
