comp data: Starbucks Technology senior SWE offer, Seattle, 2025

sharing numbers since i always wish people posted this stuff. offer was for a senior software engineer role at Starbucks Technology in Seattle, L5-equivalent.

base: $158k. annual bonus target: 12% of base (~$19k). RSUs: $140k vesting over 4 years. total first-year roughly $188-195k depending on bonus payout.

also worth knowing: benefits are genuinely strong, they cover a meaningful portion of healthcare including for partners' families, and the equity refresh program is real (not just a promise). they also have a bean stock program which is separate from the RSU package.

biggest comp note: they're not FAANG numbers. if you're coming from a big tech company, expect a step down in TC, especially if you've been collecting refreshes. but the stability is real and the stock has been quieter than the high-volatility tech cos i've worked at. different risk profile.

useful data. that base is a bit below market for senior SWE in Seattle right now (most I'm tracking are $165-180k range), but the benefits package at Starbucks is legitimately better than average. the healthcare cost offset is real money. total comp math depends on your situation.

did you negotiate? $158k base feels like they left room. i've heard they have more flexibility on base than on RSUs.

i did push back once. they came up $6k on base. didn't try harder because the total package worked for me but yeah, there probably was more room. the recruiter said RSUs were fixed to band.

bean stock is company stock, right? so you've got both RSUs and bean stock both tied to SBUX performance. that's a concentration risk worth noting if you're thinking about this as a comp diversification move.
