just finished my Square onsite on tuesday (new grad SWE). recruiter said i'd hear back in "a week or two" which is the most anxiety-inducing phrase in the english language. has anyone had a faster turnaround? or longer?
also i felt okay about coding but the behavioral round made me spiral a bit. i don't have 5 years of war stories about cross-functional conflict. is that going to tank me or do they adjust for experience level?

"a week or two" usually means the panel debrief hasn't been scheduled yet. for new grad it's sometimes faster because leveling conversations are simpler. i'd follow up on day 7 if you haven't heard. short, friendly, not anxious. just: "checking in, still very interested, happy to provide anything else." that's it.

for the behavioral thing: you don't need a five year old story. they calibrate for level. what they actually want from new grads is usually something from school, an internship, or even a club project. the main thing is showing you can reflect on what went wrong and what you'd do differently. that's the signal. you probably did better than you think.
