Comp data: Senior Financial Analyst, Sony Pictures, Culver City, 2026

sharing my offer since i couldn't find anything current when i was negotiating.

Role: Senior Financial Analyst, Film Finance (not streaming, the theatrical side) Location: Culver City, CA (hybrid, 3 days in-office) Base: $105,000 Bonus: 10% target, paid annually, discretionary Equity: none (expected, this is Sony not a startup) Benefits: solid medical/dental/vision, 401k with 4% match, free streaming via Sony services, studio lot access which sounds fun but mostly means a long commute

negotiated the base up from $98k. they had room, they just needed to be asked. they couldn't move on the bonus structure.

honestly the comp is market-adjacent for an entertainment company in LA but you're giving up TC compared to tech roles at this level. the trade is stability, prestige, and genuinely interesting work. whether that math works depends on your priorities.

FP&A track here is pretty well-defined. could see a path to manager in 2-3 years.

that base is roughly 15-20% below equivalent-level roles at tech companies in LA/Culver City for finance. but 'no equity' is the honest entertainment company deal, most people know what they're signing up for. the 4% 401k match is good.

the 'stability' thesis at studios has taken some hits lately. there were rounds of cuts at Sony Pictures in the last couple years. i'm not saying don't take it, just don't take it assuming it's immune to market swings.

fair point and i did think about that. the film finance function specifically seems more protected than some of the digital/marketing headcount that got cut. not guaranteed obviously. i went in with eyes open.

congrats on negotiating! the $98k to $105k bump on a single ask is meaningful. did you come in with a competing offer or just a number?

finance_faye

just a number. i said i was targeting $105-110k based on market research and my current comp and they came back with $105. no competing offer. didn't feel like they needed one.
