does anyone know if Snap is still actively sponsoring H1B transfers? i see they went through layoffs in late 2024 and i'm not sure if they paused hiring for roles that need sponsorship.
my situation: i'm on an H1B with my current employer, not on the cap-subject lottery, so it would be a transfer not a new filing. i've seen some posts from 2023 saying they do sponsor but i can't find anything recent.
if anyone went through the process at Snap recently, especially engineering roles, i'd really appreciate knowing how it was handled. recruiter gave me a vague 'we evaluate on a case by case basis' which is... not helpful when i'm timing everything.

they were sponsoring as of early 2025 at least for senior SWE roles. 'case by case' usually means they'll do it for strong candidates but won't commit upfront to protect their pipeline. it's annoying but it's standard big tech behavior, not a red flag specific to Snap.

push your recruiter to confirm in writing early in the process, like before the coding screens. frame it as 'before i invest time in the loop i want to confirm the team is able to support H1B transfer' -- that's professional, not presumptuous. if they hedge after that, the answer is probably no for your specific req.

this is really good framing, thank you. i've been too afraid to ask directly early because i didn't want to get screened out for it, but you're right that finding out at offer stage is way worse
