Got an offer a couple months ago for Staff SWE in San Francisco. Declined it for other reasons but the numbers felt solid and I figure this is useful data.
Base: $245k RSUs: $600k over 4 years, 1-year cliff, monthly vest after that Bonus target: 15% Sign-on: $50k (1-year clawback) Total year-1 (no bonus): roughly $395k depending on stock price at vest
This was for a messaging infrastructure team, leveled at Staff. Recruiter was pretty firm on base initially but moved $10k when I pushed. RSU grant they didn't move on but said I could negotiate the sign-on, which is where the real flex was.
I've heard the Salesforce acquisition compressed TC a bit vs. 2021 peaks. This felt competitive relative to the market right now but not jaw-dropping.

consistent with what's on levels for Staff in SF. base range for that tier is roughly $225-260k, RSU range is wider. the sign-on being the negotiable lever is accurate, that's been the pattern at a few post-acquisition companies where base bands are tighter.

the 15% bonus target sounds right for Staff at a company this size. worth knowing that at many big tech companies that target is rarely fully paid out, budget varies year to year. model it conservatively, maybe 80% of target in an average year.

yeah i modeled it at 0% bonus in my comparison because i've been disappointed by bonus targets before. base plus RSU was the real number for me.

curious what the 'other reasons' were for declining. is the vibe post-Salesforce noticeably different internally? i've heard mixed things about culture preservation.
