Got a data engineering role in the Samsung Austin office coming up, 3 weeks out. I've prepped for the usual stuff but I'm going in a little blind on the specifics.
Anyone been through the Samsung data/analytics engineering loop in the last year? Curious about: how technical the coding rounds actually get (LC mediums, LC hards, or more domain-y?) whether they do a system design round specific to data pipelines or a more general design round anything weird or unexpected that you wish someone had told you
Also happy to share notes after my loop. Will report back either way.

not data eng specifically but went through a similar analytics-adjacent loop at Samsung about 8 months ago. it was mostly SQL heavy in the early rounds with some python scripting. the "system design" round was really a data modeling discussion, not distributed systems. they wanted to know how I'd model a product event schema and handle late-arriving events. pretty reasonable.

Samsung's infrastructure for data work is honestly pretty interesting because they're running at hardware scale that most companies don't touch. I'd expect some questions about data reliability and schema evolution at volume, even for a pipeline role.

come back and post your experience please. there's almost nothing on this channel about non-SWE technical roles at Samsung and it would actually be useful.
