Does Samsung sponsor H1B transfers? Anyone have recent experience?

visa_vik · 3 replies

Applying to a Samsung SRA position and my 60-day clock is running. Does anyone know if Samsung actively sponsors H1B transfers or if they're slow / reluctant about it? The recruiter said they do sponsorship but I've heard that line before and then found out later the team lead has to fight internally to get it approved.

Also, is it worth flagging visa status upfront in the initial screen or waiting until offer stage? I've seen both strategies work and fail. Anxious about this one specifically because the role looks great otherwise.

Samsung does sponsor, they have a dedicated immigration team. that said, transfer timelines can vary and some hiring managers have quota pressure. flag it early and ask specifically "does the team have H1B transfer experience" not just "does the company sponsor." the second question is almost always yes. the first is what matters.

that's exactly the right distinction, thank you. I'll ask it that way in the next recruiter call.

not personally in your situation but i've read that Samsung is generally okay for visa stuff because they have a big international workforce especially in the semiconductor division. might be division-specific though.
