interviewing at Roblox in a few weeks, need recent loop data

quietquit_quincy · 4 replies

i have a data analyst / BI role in the Roblox pipeline and i'm a bit in the dark on what to expect. most posts i've found are SWE-focused. would love data points from anyone who went through a data or analytics loop there.

specifically: how SQL-heavy is it? do they do a take-home? is there a product sense component or is it mostly technical? any sense of timeline?

drop whatever you have, even old data is useful as a baseline.

i interviewed for a DS role there about 8 months ago. definitely SQL-heavy. they gave me a 2-hour take-home with a provided dataset and asked me to write queries, do some analysis, and present findings. the presentation round is where they test whether you can translate numbers into a story for a non-technical audience.

this is exactly what i needed. 2 hours for the take-home is reasonable. did they specify tool preferences or was it open?

they said python or SQL, your choice. i did SQL for the analysis and then put a few charts in a google doc for the presentation piece. nothing fancy.

data eng loop there was SQL + system design (pipeline architecture), and one round that was basically 'explain a past project at depth.' no take-home for me but that may vary by team.
