does plaid interview new grads differently or is it the same loop?

applying for their new grad SWE role and the job description doesn't make it super clear what the process looks like. a few things I'm worried about: is the system design round still there for new grads, or do they skip it? how much fintech domain knowledge do they expect? i haven't worked in finance is it one onsite or multiple stages

I've been grinding LC but the financial data stuff has me a little anxious. i don't really know the banking world.

for new grad loops at most fintechs, system design is either shortened or replaced with a lighter 'object design' or product sense question. they're calibrating for potential, not for distributed systems fluency. focus on your coding fundamentals and be honest that you're early in your career with fintech. curiosity matters more than domain knowledge at that level.

that's reassuring actually. i was prepping deep on oauth flows for banking APIs and maybe that's overkill for a new grad loop

your recruiter should tell you exactly what rounds to expect before the onsite. if they haven't, just ask directly. a well-run process will give you the round breakdown. if they won't tell you, that's also data.
