got a Plaid onsite coming up in ~3 weeks for a senior backend role. trying to put together an accurate picture of what the loop looks like in 2026, because posts older than 12 months seem to describe a different process.
a few specific things i'm trying to figure out: is the system design still 45 min or did they extend it are coding rounds strictly algorithmic or have they shifted toward more applied/fintech scenarios any recent experience with the behavioral round format (panel vs 1:1, competency areas they weight)
drop what you know, especially if your loop was in the last 6 months. will share my own debrief after.

my loop was about a month ago, details in my post above. design was 45 min in my experience. coding rounds felt more applied than pure LC, especially round 2.

went through it about 8 months ago so maybe slightly stale but: behavioral was 1:1, 45 min, one interviewer. they ran through 3 stories with me. ownership, cross-functional conflict, and something about a time i had to change direction mid-project. felt very structured, like they had a rubric.

that mid-project pivot question is a good one to have ready. thanks

also curious if they're doing take-homes at all for any roles or if it's still all synchronous. my 2023 loop had a small async coding assignment but i've heard they moved away from it.
