interviewing there in about 4 weeks, for a backend SWE role. lurked here for a while and the signal is scattered so wanted to pull it together.
if you've done a loop at perplexity in the last 6 months, would love to hear: role and rough level how many rounds and what types anything that surprised you rough timeline from screen to offer/reject
not asking for confidential stuff, just general structure and vibe. the company has grown a lot and i'm not sure if posts from a year ago still apply.

did a frontend loop about 3 months ago. 4 rounds total. one was straight coding (typescript, react-ish problem), one was more system design focused on client perf. got a rejection after the final but feedback was specific and actually useful, which is rare. timeline was about 5 weeks.

growth PM loop, about 2 months ago. 3 rounds + a take-home. take-home was "pick a perplexity query type that underperforms and spec a fix." they want you to have opinions. mine was too hedged and i could tell from the follow-up questions. be direct about what you'd actually change.

the take-home prompt is gold, thanks. "too hedged" is basically my default mode so this is a good warning.

i did a screen about 6 weeks ago for a platform eng role. got pushed to next round but then the req was paused. recruiter was upfront about it, gave me a heads-up instead of ghosting, which i genuinely appreciated. said they'd be back in touch in q3.
