i did my recruiter screen for a junior SWE role about 9 days ago. the recruiter said "we'll be in touch within 1-2 weeks" but i'm spiraling a little. did anyone else wait this long before hearing about a technical screen?
also is there any prep i should be doing for the technical round in the meantime? the job description mentions Python and some vague "distributed systems" stuff which could mean anything.
9 days is totally within normal. media company hiring moves slower than pure-tech because headcount approval loops can take time. if you hit 2 full weeks with no word, send a short, polite follow-up to the recruiter. one email, not multiple. the distributed systems mention for a junior role is probably more "familiarity" than deep expertise, focus on your fundamentals.
when i was there it was almost exactly 10 days between my screen and hearing about the technical round. just the way their scheduling works. prep graphs and trees in the meantime, that seems to be the most common thing that comes up in reports here.
