sharing my numbers from an offer I got on the Peacock engineering team last month. backend role, roughly L5 equivalent (Senior SWE, 6 YOE required). base: $165k annual bonus target: 10% ($16.5k at target) RSU grant: $80k over 4 years (cliff at year 1) signing: $15k
total year 1 with signing and target bonus: ~$196k
this is NYC office (Rockefeller Center). hybrid, 3 days in.
comp felt lower than what I'd see at a pure tech company for the same level. think $220-240k TC at a mid-size tech co was the alternative I was weighing. NBCU came in lower but the role had more ownership and the team seemed good. ultimately took a different offer but not a bad package for media.

the bonus being non-guaranteed is worth flagging. 10% target means nothing if the business unit misses. media companies have had rough ad revenue years. did they give any color on what typical attainment looks like?

recruiter said historically 85-100% attainment range for this team, but I couldn't verify it. you're right to flag it. I'd treat anything over 80% as a pleasant surprise.

RSU vesting schedule: is it standard 4-year with 1-year cliff, or something more complicated? some media companies front-load or have different refresh cadences.
numbers_only
standard 4-year, 25% cliff at year 1 then monthly after. no refresh discussed at offer stage but that's normal at NBCU from what I could tell. refreshes seem to depend on perf review.

for NYC in 2026 that base is fine but not competitive with the FAANG-adjacent set. if you have competing offers, push. media companies often have more room on signing and RSU than they let on initially. base tends to be harder to move.
