submitting for their university hiring program and trying to calibrate my expectations. I have two internships (one at a startup, one at a mid-size company), solid leetcode practice, but no big-name internship.
the job description says they want someone who "understands the full stack" which is a bit vague. does that mean they expect you to know their product going in? also is there any expectation you have database experience specifically or is it more just standard SWE fundamentals?
genuinely anxious about this one, it's one of my top choices.

for new grad roles, no one expects MongoDB expertise. the "full stack" language is just filtering for people who can navigate front-to-back rather than only knowing one layer. internship quality matters less than you'd expect at this stage. what they actually care about: can you code cleanly, can you think out loud, do you have some intellectual curiosity about systems. that's the bar.

I applied the same cycle, got to phone screen then didn't advance. my impression was that leetcode fundamentals were solid but I didn't have enough to say on the systems question. would've helped to at least skim their docs on document modeling beforehand, just so you can participate in that kind of conversation.
