Interviewing at Moderna in 3 weeks, want recent data on their data engineering loop

recruiter just confirmed my on-site. role is data engineering, something on their research data platform. i've found almost nothing current about what the technical portion looks like for DE specifically.

does anyone have recent (like 2025-2026) experience with Moderna's DE interview? specifically: is it SQL-heavy, pipeline design, or coding? do they use a whiteboard or shared coding environment? how much behavioral vs technical in the on-site?

anything helps. preparing in the dark is the worst.

mine was DS not DE but same recruiter team from what i can tell. they used CoderPad for the technical portion. definitely SQL, they care a lot about how you handle messy data at scale. i'd prep pipeline design too, they're building a lot of internal tooling.

heard from someone who went through a similar loop that the system design portion was pretty workflow-centric. like: design a pipeline that ingests genomic datasets and makes them available to researchers downstream. less distributed systems interview, more pragmatic infra + tooling conversation.

curious whether they ask about data quality and testing in the pipeline. seems like it would matter a lot in clinical data contexts where bad data has actual downstream consequences.
