Comp for McKinsey BA (Business Analyst) offer, 2025

ops_omar · 4 replies

Sharing data since I benefited from others doing the same.

Role: Business Analyst (undergraduate entry level) Office: New York Offer year: late 2025

Base: $112,000 Performance bonus: up to ~$20,000 (range, not guaranteed, discretionary) Relocation: $5,000 one-time if applicable

No equity at the BA level. Benefits package is solid, health fully covered. The total cash can hit ~$130K in a good year.

For reference, Associate (MBA entry) base in NY was reported at roughly $200K+ by someone in my cohort's network, with a separate signing component. That's a big jump but so is the expectation.

This is my actual offer, not pulled from Glassdoor. Happy to answer questions on the process side too.

Thanks for the detail. Is the bonus tied to individual performance rating or office/firm performance? I've heard McKinsey cohort bonuses can vary a lot year to year.

Both, sort of. There's a firm-wide component and an individual performance component. My recruiter was not super transparent about the weighting. The number I quoted is what they said the "typical" bonus looks like for a strong performer. Take it with appropriate skepticism.

interesting that there's no equity. for a firm that places itself as competing with big tech for top grads, that comp gap at the cash level is real. not saying it's bad, just noting that the pitch has to be the brand and exit opps, not the total package.

the exit opps argument is real but it's worth noting that the two-year analyst program is also a two-year intensity trial. some people love it. some leave after 18 months exhausted. the comp is fine for what it is but don't count on the bonus as fixed income.
