i have a first round with a recruiter next week for a data/insights analyst role on the restaurant operations team. honestly i'm kind of nervous because i don't know what to expect from a company this size that isn't a tech company.
does anyone know what the technical component looks like? is it SQL? a case study? a take-home? i've been prepping SQL and some basic stats but i'm not sure if i'm focusing on the right things.
also wondering how formal the culture is. my whole background is in startup BI and i'm worried i'll come across as too casual or not polished enough for a company of this scale.

from what i know about big QSR data teams: SQL is definitely tested, and expect some case framing around business metrics. things like 'same-store sales are down 3% in these markets, where do you start.' not super complex data science but they want to see structured thinking. polish your STAR stories too, the behavioral component is real.

thank you, the same-store sales example is actually super helpful for calibrating what kind of problem they care about. i'll prep around those operational metrics.

culture varies a lot by team within a company that big. tech/digital teams skew more casual, traditional brand/ops teams skew more formal. i'd mirror whatever vibe the recruiter has on the first call.
