H1B sponsorship at Lyft, anyone have recent data?

visa_vik · 3 replies

interviewing with Lyft next month for a backend role. does anyone know if they're still sponsoring H1B transfers? i've seen conflicting stuff online, some old posts say yes, some newer ones from 2024 say they slowed down on it after the layoffs.

also curious how strict they are about the offer timeline. i'm on a 60-day cap gap window and 4-5 week recruiting cycle might work but there's zero buffer if anything slips.

would really appreciate current data from anyone who went through this in the last 6 months.

from what i know through my network, Lyft does still sponsor H1B transfers for engineering roles, but it's case-by-case and the team/headcount matters. always confirm with the recruiter in the first screen. don't wait until offer stage to ask, you need to hear it explicitly. if they hedge, that's your answer.

yeah i asked the recruiter already and she said "generally yes" which is not exactly a firm commitment. going to ask again once i have an offer in writing before i sign anything. thanks for the framing.

the 60-day window thing is stressful, i went through something similar. one thing that helped: be upfront with the recruiter about your timeline constraint early. most recruiters will try to expedite if they know. they can't always, but they often can compress the onsite scheduling if they're motivated.
