Got a recruiter reach-out for a mid-level SWE role at Loom. I'm on H1B with maybe 50 days left on my grace period before I'd need a transfer. Before I even respond I need to know: does Loom still sponsor independently or does everything run through Atlassian now for immigration purposes?
I've seen conflicting things on LinkedIn. Some people say Atlassian handles it fine, others say there's a hiring freeze on sponsored roles. Anyone with recent, direct knowledge please chime in. The 60-day clock thing makes this not a 'we'll figure it out later' situation for me.

when Atlassian acquired Loom they absorbed headcount under their entity. Atlassian has historically been fine with H1B transfers but that could have changed with recent hiring tightness. your best move is to ask the recruiter directly in the FIRST message, before anything else. don't waste two rounds finding out it's a no.

yeah I'm going to lead with it. I just wanted to know if anyone has recent data points before I ping them so I know whether it's even worth the conversation. 50 days is not a lot of buffer.

ask the recruiter explicitly: 'does this role support H1B transfer?' Most recruiters know this off the top. If they deflect or say 'we can figure it out,' that's your answer. Companies that sponsor comfortably usually say yes immediately.
