Just wrapped my LinkedIn SWE loop for a mid-level role (they call it L4 internally but the external title is just "Software Engineer"). Took about five weeks from first email to verbal. Wanted to write this up while it's fresh.
The recruiter screen was maybe 20 minutes. Standard stuff: tell me about your background, what are you looking for, when are you available. She was pretty warm. Didn't get into comp until I asked directly at the end.
Online assessment came next, two weeks after the screen. Two coding problems on their internal platform (not HackerRank, not Leetcode directly, but the format is basically the same). 70 minutes, both problems, no live interviewer. First was a medium-tier graph problem. Second was a string manipulation thing that had a tricky edge case I almost missed. They grade on correctness and partially on efficiency.
Technical phone screen was one 45-minute session with a senior SWE. One coding problem, medium difficulty, tree traversal. They left time at the end for questions. Very chill interviewer, gave a hint when I got stuck without making it feel like charity.
Onsite (virtual, 4 rounds over two days): Round 1: coding, two problems, medium difficulty Round 2: system design, I got a prompt about designing a notification service Round 3: behavioral, two interviewers, this was the longest round Round 4: coding again, one harder problem, 45 minutes
Total timeline was about 5 weeks. They moved pretty fast once the onsite was scheduled. Offer came four business days after the final round.
Feel free to ask specifics. The behavioral round surprised me, it was more structured than I expected and they clearly had rubrics. More on that in another thread maybe.
