Applied to HP new grad SWE role about 3 weeks ago, got a recruiter screen last week, felt like it went well. recruiter said they'd follow up "within a few days" and it's been 9 days now. is this normal for HP? do i just wait or send a follow-up? i really don't want to seem pushy but i'm also interviewing other places and need to manage my timeline. any recent experience appreciated
9 days after "a few days" is totally reasonable to follow up. one short email to your recruiter contact, something like: "wanted to follow up on next steps, i'm actively interviewing and want to make sure HP stays on my timeline." mentioning you're interviewing elsewhere is fine and actually helps move things.
thank you. sent the email this morning. recruiter replied within 2 hours, technical screen is scheduled for next week. so yes: follow up.
HP's recruiting coordination has always been a little slow. it's not ghosting, it's just volume and process overhead. follow up, be polite, you'll be fine. they're not going to reject you for being responsive.
