Position Purpose: Supports the team responsible for store inventory financial accuracy, the various components that influence inventory values under the Retail Math calculation (markups/markdowns/shrink), and Deferred Sales. Owner of markdown and / or shrink impacts to inventory balances, among other ad hoc issues. This position is part of the broader Merchandise Inventory Accounting team and a world-class Controllership organization, which serves as a strategic and innovative partner focused on financial statement integrity and supporting business growth.
Key Responsibilities: 70% Operational Duties: Owns the markdown and / or shrink impacts to inventory balances, troubleshoots IT and operational issues that result in inaccuracies in the Retail Math calculation, provides ad hoc analytical support to finance and field partners. 15% Collaboration: Partners with Finance, Accounting and operational partners on inventory fluctuations and impacts to Retail Math components. Effectively develops trust and collaboration with internal customers and cross-functional teams in other towers, collaborates with appropriate team members to gather input and feedback concerning business needs, understands the technical needs for tackling business problems 10% Project Support: Partners with the Manager and/or the Lead Analyst to work through continuous improvement efforts and special projects 5% Skill Building & Professional Development: Seeks further knowledge on key developments and trends within finance (e.g., analytics, intelligent automation, robotics) This position typically reports to the Manager, Store Inventory Accounting This position has no direct reports
Travel Requirements:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions, there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Working Conditions:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years old
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications: Progress toward CPA preferred; strong foundational understanding of GAAP and core accounting logic Exposure to Retail Math and Gross Margin analysis Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; exposure to SAP S4 HANA, GBQ and/or SQL preferred Ability to work independently and complete work accurately and on schedule within a fast-paced environment Ability to prepare and present clear and concise reporting / updates to manager or senior manager-level stakeholders Strong analytical, problem solving, and research skills; experience with data analytics / data visualization is a plus Ability to anticipate work needs and interact professionally with customers Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Minimum Education:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in Accounting or Finance
