H1B transfer timing + Google's offer process, anyone been through this?

Got to the offer stage at Google and I'm genuinely stressed about timing. I'm on an H1B at my current employer and they've been... not great about the transfer paperwork historically. Google's offer team told me they can initiate transfer but it takes time.

Did anyone negotiate a longer start date successfully? And does the 60-day window even apply here since I'd be on a transfer not a cap-subject petition? I know this is kind of niche but if anyone's been through it I'd really appreciate the details. The recruiter is nice but I don't think they fully understand the immigration mechanics.

yes, been through this. Google has an immigration team and they're actually decent. when you accept, they'll connect you with their immigration law firm within a few days. start date is negotiable, especially if you explain the transfer situation. I pushed mine out 8 weeks, they were fine with it.

that's really helpful, thank you. did you have to have that conversation before or after accepting? I don't want to seem like I'm being difficult before the ink is dry.

after accepting is fine. once you're in the system their immigration team reaches out fairly fast. just tell them your situation upfront, they've seen it thousands of times.

not H1B but had a complicated start date situation and Google was flexible. the offer itself doesn't have a hard expiry on most roles, they understand people have lives. just communicate early and clearly.
