really nervous about the GitHub screen next week, any advice for new grads?

got the recruiter reach-out for a new grad SWE role. screen is in 6 days. i've been practicing LeetCode mediums for two months but i keep reading that GitHub's interview is different from standard FAANG prep and i'm second-guessing everything now.

is it actually that different? do i still need to be solid on trees/graphs or is it all practical stuff? any specific topics to review?

also: is the recruiter screen pass/fail based on resume or does it actually matter what i say

the recruiter screen is real. they're checking for communication, role fit, and baseline motivation. actually knowing what GitHub products you use and why you want to work there specifically goes a long way. don't wing it.

Standard DSA still applies for new grad. GitHub is not a no-leetcode shop. practical framing =/= easy. they just might wrap a graph problem in a git metaphor. know your fundamentals cold.

recruiter screen matters for behavioral fit, not just resume verification. they'll probe on why github specifically, why now, what you know about the team. generic answers tank candidates more often than people think. do 10 minutes of actual prep for the cultural questions.
