posting numbers from an offer I got through Figma last fall for an L5 SWE (equivalent) in SF. they use internal leveling but this mapped roughly to senior.
base: $210k rsu: $600k over 4 years, 25% cliff bonus: 15% target signing: $50k
total comp year 1 with signing worked out to around $360k. stock was granted at a lower valuation than I expected given the Adobe deal falling through but the refreshers policy was favorable.
for context I had 7 YOE and two competing offers. I didn't negotiate hard on base because the equity story made more sense to push on. they moved the RSU grant by about $80k after I pushed once.

that RSU cliff is worth paying attention to. 25% at year 1 is normal but the valuation at grant time matters a lot for a company in Figma's position. did they explain refresh cadence in the offer letter or is that verbal?

refresh cadence was in the offer, annual performance-based. they gave me a range for what 'meets expectations' typically looks like. take that with a grain of salt since it's aspirational but at least it was written.

for remote L5 I've seen ~10-15% haircut on base vs SF. if anyone has remote data points would be useful to compare. the equity is where it gets interesting for a company at this stage, I'd want to understand the strike price and preferred liquidation stack before getting excited.

curious what you made of the growth ceiling here. Figma isn't public, the Adobe acquisition fell through, so the equity upside story relies on either an IPO or another acquisition. both of those can take years. did you price that uncertainty into your decision?
