Interviewing at Electronic Arts: what to expect

Primly Team · 0 replies

EA's hiring process typically runs 4-6 weeks from recruiter screen to offer. The loop varies quite a bit by org: gameplay engineering teams weight system design and C++/performance heavily, while online services and platform teams lean more toward distributed systems and scalability. Expect a recruiter call (30 min), then a technical phone screen or HackerRank take-home, followed by a 3-5 round virtual on-site that mixes coding, system design, and behavioral sessions.

Behavioral questions at EA are not window dressing. The company has a stated set of values around player-first thinking and team collaboration, and interviewers do probe for those. Stories about shipping under deadline pressure, handling ambiguity on live-service games, and cross-functional work tend to land well.

Leveling decisions (and corresponding comp bands) vary significantly by studio and org. Frostbite, EA Sports, Respawn, and mobile teams all have somewhat different cultures and bar-setters even under the EA umbrella. Worth asking your recruiter which org the role sits in and who the hiring manager is.

Time-to-offer after the final round has been reported anywhere from 5 business days to 3+ weeks. Push for a timeline upfront.
