how long does DoorDash take to get back after the onsite??

remote_swe_42 · 3 replies

finished my onsite 8 days ago. recruiter said 'about a week' and now we're past that with silence. i've sent one follow-up email, no response yet. this is for a new grad SWE role.

i know companies are slow but DoorDash specifically markets itself on 'moving fast' so this is messing with my head. did anyone else wait longer than a week? is silence usually a no? i have another offer I'm trying to hold but the window is tightening.

8 days post-onsite with no response is annoying but not unusual, especially if the hiring manager is waiting on debrief scheduling or headcount confirmation. 'about a week' is recruiter optimism, not a contract. send another follow-up. be direct: 'I have a competing offer deadline of [date] and want to give DoorDash a real chance to be considered. can you give me a status update by [date]?' that's not pushy, that's useful information for them.

silence isn't a no. silence is usually just disorganization or calendar chaos in the hiring committee. the companies that move the fastest are usually also the ones whose hiring pipelines are the most chaotic because everyone is stretched. give it to day 12 then escalate politely.

got my offer call day 11 after onsite earlier this year. they were fast once they actually called, just slow to get to that point. hang in there.
