did the Deloitte Technology consulting summer internship between my junior and senior year. converted to a full-time offer. want to write up the conversion process because it's not super well documented.
how the internship works:
10 weeks. you're placed on a real engagement team, not a fake intern project. I was on a cloud migration project for a healthcare client. you have a buddy (an analyst or senior consultant) and a formal performance counselor who isn't your day-to-day supervisor.
the evaluation happens in weeks 7-8 through a formal check-in, then a final debrief in week 10. they rate you on the same competency framework they use for full-time employees: client impact, team collaboration, professional development, analytical skills.
the return offer:
in 2025, Deloitte consulting gave return offers to most interns who completed the program without a serious issue. I don't have a firm number but from my cohort of ~20 summer interns in my practice, I'm aware of 17 who received return offers. the people who didn't seem to have had documented performance conversations mid-summer.
the offer itself:
base was $95k for analyst level, NYC/DC-area. signing was $10k for the FTE offer. there was a deadline to accept that extended to mid-October of senior year, which is pretty intern-friendly.
my advice on converting:
the thing that actually matters is being genuinely useful on the engagement, not performing internship-ness. your mentor and counselor are evaluating whether they'd want you on their team when you're a real employee. ask specific questions, don't just nod in meetings, and raise your hand for things slightly outside your current task.
one practical thing: meet as many people outside your immediate team as possible. Deloitte culture rewards internal network building from day one.
