Datadog offer data: Senior SWE, NYC, 2026

Sharing a data point since i never see Datadog comp in the wild.

Senior SWE (L4 equivalent), New York office, offer accepted March 2026: Base: $195k RSU: $280k over 4 years (1-year cliff then quarterly vest) Bonus target: 15% of base, not guaranteed Sign-on: $30k (one-time, clawback if leave before 12 months)

Total year 1 rough: ~$295k all-in depending on bonus. Year 2+ closer to $260-$270k after sign-on drops off.

They don't talk about RSU refreshes upfront but apparently performance refresh reviews happen annually. Negotiated base up $10k from initial and got a small sign-on bump. They didn't move on RSU grant at all.

Healthcare was solid. Unlimited PTO which at my last two companies has meant "use it or feel guilty." Equity vesting cliff is worth noting if you're comparing to companies with monthly vesting.

15% bonus target as "not guaranteed" is the part that always bites people. at Datadog the actual payout in the last couple years was closer to 80-100% of target based on what i've seen, so you could budget maybe 12% of base in practice. still variable though.

NYC vs SF matters here for cost of living. in SF equivalent number would probably be $5-15k higher base depending on team. just for calibration if anyone is comparing across offices.

good data point. datadog has been pretty competitive on comp relative to mid-stage public companies. they're not FAANG but they're not underpaying senior engineers either. the equity is real and the stock has been volatile but not catastrophic.
