how long does CVS Health background check take and is it before or after the verbal offer?

I got a verbal offer for a tech role on the pharmacy tech side last week and they said formal offer letter comes after background check clears. I'm on an H1B and my current employer's grace period isn't unlimited.

anyone know how long the background check actually takes at CVS? HR said "typically 5-10 business days" but I've heard corporate timelines and reality don't always match. and did they start the BGC before the verbal or is the verbal the trigger?

feeling the time pressure here.

at most large healthcare companies the BGC is triggered by you accepting the verbal and completing the BGC vendor form (usually Sterling or HireRight). so the clock doesn't start until you respond to that email. check your spam. that email sometimes goes there.

I went through CVS BGC last year for a different kind of role and it took about 8 business days. the 5-10 range they gave you is probably honest. fingers crossed for the lower end.
