went through this last month for a senior PM role at Comcast (XFinity consumer products org). sharing the recruiter phone screen because i could not find any good info on it and expected it to be a generic 'tell me about yourself' call. it was not.
length: 30 minutes, right on the dot. my recruiter was efficient.
what they asked: walk me through your background and why you're interested in Comcast specifically. (standard, fine) what do you know about the XFinity product line? (not a trick question but they want you to have done 10 minutes of homework. i named the internet/TV/mobile bundle strategy and mentioned the NOW TV streaming push. recruiter visibly relaxed.) what's your experience with subscription products or consumer-facing platforms? how do you typically define success for a product launch? what metrics do you track? this surprised me: they asked about my experience working with engineering in an agile environment. kind of an odd question for a recruiter screen but apparently the PM-eng relationship is a pain point on some teams and they're flagging for it early. salary expectations. they asked upfront. i gave a range based on what i'd seen for Comcast PM roles ($155-175K base for senior) and she confirmed that was in range.
the whole thing felt like a genuine filter, not a formality. she was checking: do you know what Comcast actually does, are you serious about this, and will you be a personality mismatch. the leveling and comp check at the end was brisk and direct.
what i'd prep: look at the specific org you're applying to. Comcast has a few distinct product orgs (XFinity Consumer, XFinity Business, NBCUniversal side, Peacock). the recruiter will notice if you conflated them. i made a small gaffe mentioning something about Peacock that was actually only relevant to the NBCUniversal side and she corrected me politely.
