Went through the full Comcast SWE loop last month, here's the breakdown

Interviewed for a Senior SWE role on the Xfinity platform team. Took about 4.5 weeks total.

Round structure: recruiter screen (30 min, standard background + timeline questions) hiring manager intro (45 min, more conversational, they wanted to understand what I was optimizing for in my next role) technical screen 1: DSA, two medium-level LeetCode-style questions, one on graphs, one on sliding window. nothing exotic. technical screen 2: system design. they gave me a vague "design a notification delivery system at scale" prompt. i asked clarifying questions for the first 8 minutes and they seemed pleased by that. behavioral loop: four 45-min panels. two technical, two purely behavioral. the behavioral ones were heavier than I expected. lots of "tell me about a time you had to work with a stakeholder who disagreed with your technical direction."

Overall the interviewers were engaged and the panels felt fair. a couple were clearly going off a rubric, which is actually reassuring. one interviewer was a bit checked-out but that's not unique to Comcast.

The offer came in at the lower end of my range. they said comp bands are "fixed" but I pushed back once and they added $8k to base. always push back.

Total time from recruiter email to offer letter: 31 days.

the notification system design prompt is pretty common across big media/cable orgs. they want to see you talk about fan-out, delivery guarantees, and retry logic. did they ask about idempotency at all?

yeah, came up in the last 10 minutes. i mentioned at-least-once delivery with idempotency keys on the consumer side and they nodded and moved on. not super deep on it but they wanted to see i knew the tradeoff existed.

what level was the offer? trying to calibrate whether Comcast's L5 equivalent is in the market range or low.

31 days is honestly fast for a company that size. my friend's loop at the NBCUniversal side took 9 weeks and the role got cancelled. different planet over there apparently.
