Collecting recent interview data for Comcast, interviewing in 3 weeks

mobile_mara · 4 replies

Got a recruiter reach-out for a mid-level mobile (iOS) role at Comcast, on the Xfinity Home product. Loop is scheduled in about 3 weeks and I want to know what I'm actually walking into.

specifically curious about: how heavy is the DSA bar for mobile? I keep hearing mobile interviews at cable cos can go either direction are the behavioral rounds a real screen or more of a checkbox thing? anything specific to the Xfinity mobile/home product orgs vs. the broader Comcast tech side?

Drop anything recent below, even if it's not mobile-specific. I'll take data points from any role.

not mobile but I did a loop for a DevOps role last quarter. behavioral rounds were real, not a checkbox. they asked fairly specific situational questions and took notes, didn't feel like they were just filling in a form.

I interviewed for a product role on the Xfinity app side about 6 months ago. they cared a lot about how you handle working across teams with different priorities. large org means a lot of stakeholders with conflicting agendas, so they probe for that specifically. not sure if that translates to mobile but it might help to prep stories about cross-team stuff.

this is useful, I actually have a good story from a project where design and engineering had opposite priorities on a timeline. I'll make sure that one is ready.

for mobile DSA at cable-adjacent companies in my experience: usually one coding round, not super hard, they're checking that you can code not that you memorized every tree traversal. the bigger question is usually "have you shipped real apps that handle connectivity edge cases" which Xfinity Home would care about.
