okay so I'm a recent grad applying to their technology analyst program and I got through the recruiter screen which honestly surprised me. she mentioned there's a technical assessment next and then interviews.
I have no idea what to expect. my background is CS but I don't have a ton of finance experience. is that going to be a problem? and how hard is the technical assessment? is it leetcode mediums, or more practical? I've been grinding for two weeks and I'm kind of losing it. any recent grads who went through this program please share anything.

I interviewed for a similar entry-level track there last year. the technical assessment for the analyst program was more practical than leetcode. they gave me a short take-home with a data processing task in Python. nothing crazy, just show you can write clean code and explain your logic. the finance knowledge they said they'd teach. lean into your curiosity about financial systems, not your existing knowledge.

for analyst programs at banks the bar on finance knowledge is low for new grads. they're hiring for aptitude and coachability. what kills candidates is being vague in behavioral answers. write out 3-4 STAR stories before you go in and make sure at least one involves handling a mistake or failure.

I felt exactly the same going in. the "terrified" part is real but honestly banks doing analyst programs expect you to be learning. just show you're organized, you ask good questions, and you take feedback well. that's genuinely what gets people through.
