Interviewing at Bloomberg? Here's what to expect.

Bloomberg's engineering interview process is notably different from the standard FAANG loop. Expect a strong emphasis on C++ and systems-level knowledge, even for roles that aren't pure systems work. The loop typically runs 4-6 rounds: a recruiter screen, one or two technical phone screens (often with a live coding component), and an onsite that mixes DSA, system design, and a behavioral round.

A few things candidates consistently flag. First, Bloomberg cares a lot about how you think under pressure, not just whether you get the right answer. Narrating your reasoning out loud matters more than finishing. Second, the system design bar is high. You'll likely be asked to design something financial or data-heavy: think real-time feeds, low-latency streaming, or market data pipelines. Third, Bloomberg is known for a collegial-but-demanding culture. The office is in Midtown NYC (or other global hubs); most engineering roles are hybrid or in-person.

Timeline: recruiter contact to offer can range from 3 to 7 weeks depending on team. Headcount moves slower here than at pure tech companies.
