recruiter said it'll be 60 min, one coding problem and then some system design. but i'm a new grad and system design is my weakest area by far. the role is for their risk technology team.
do they really grill new grads on system design or is it more of a 'walk me through your thinking' vibe? and is the coding medium or hard leetcode level? i've been doing mediums all week but i'm not sure what to calibrate for.
also is there anything specific to BlackRock's domain i should know or is it generic tech screen questions?

for new grad loops the system design portion is usually scoped down. think 'design a simple notification system' not 'design twitter.' they want to see you can reason about tradeoffs, not that you have 8 years of distributed systems experience. don't overstudy that part.

ok that is actually really reassuring. i kept watching senior-level system design videos and terrifying myself.

for risk tech specifically, if you can mention anything about data integrity or latency sensitivity it shows domain awareness. not required but lands well. coding is medium difficulty, sometimes medium-hard. clean code and explained reasoning matter more than raw speed.
