BCG Interview Process: What to Expect Before You Walk In

Primly Team · 0 replies

BCG's hiring process is thorough and very case-heavy, whether you're going for consulting associate, specialist, or an internal corporate role. For consulting tracks, expect 2-3 rounds typically with 2 cases per round, each 45-60 minutes. The cases are usually BCG-style: more conversational and less structured than McKinsey, but you're still expected to drive the framework yourself. They're looking at how you think out loud, not just whether you hit the right answer.

The fit/behavioral portion is integrated into every case interview, usually in the first 5-10 minutes. BCG calls these PEI (Personal Experience Interview) questions: one deep story about leadership, one about teamwork, one about impactful work. You'll get pushed hard on specifics. Vague answers don't survive the follow-up.

For non-consulting specialist roles (data science, tech, digital ventures), the process is different: technical screen, then a business case, then behavioral rounds. These are sometimes run through BCG X or BCG Platinion, so check which entity is actually hiring.

Timeline varies a lot. Campus recruiting moves on a defined cycle. Experienced hire can take 3-8 weeks depending on the office and how slammed their recruiting team is.
