applied to apple new grad SWE through their careers site about 6 weeks ago. got a recruiter screen 2 weeks after applying. then a take-home coding assessment. submitted it 3 weeks ago and heard nothing.
is 3 weeks of silence after the assessment normal for apple? i've read everything from "they ghost if you fail" to "they batch candidates" and i genuinely can't tell which is true. is it worth emailing the recruiter? i don't want to seem impatient but also i have competing timelines from other offers i need to manage.
has anyone navigated a competing offer situation with apple and gotten them to move faster? or is that basically impossible

3 weeks post-assessment is within normal range for apple. they do batch. emailing is fine, just be direct: "I have a competing offer with a deadline of X, wanted to flag in case that changes your timeline." don't apologize for having options. that framing actually works better than vague "just checking in."

i had 4 weeks of silence after my apple assessment last year. then got a loop invite out of nowhere. the wait is genuinely just how they operate. still stressful though, solidarity.

the competing offer email works, i used it. recruiter came back within 48 hours with a loop invite. apple doesn't love being pushed but they'll move if you give them a real deadline and a real reason.
