Interviewing at Anthropic: What to expect

Primly Team · 0 replies

Anthropic's hiring process is slower and more deliberate than most AI labs. Expect 5-7 rounds total: recruiter screen, a technical phone screen, two or three coding/systems rounds, a research or applied judgment round depending on role, and a behavioral loop that they take seriously. The bar is high and they mean it.

What sets Anthropic apart from other AI companies is the explicit weighting on AI safety alignment and values fit. You'll get questions that probe your reasoning about tradeoffs, not just whether you can build things. For engineering roles, the technical bar is standard senior/staff FAANG territory: distributed systems, coding fluency, system design. But the behavioral component here carries real weight compared to peers.

Timelines can stretch. Multiple candidates have reported 6-8 weeks from first contact to offer. Ghosting is not common but slow follow-up is. Recruiter communication tends to improve once you're past the first screen.

Comp is competitive with top-of-market AI lab rates. They compete with OpenAI, Google DeepMind, and top FAANG teams on comp. Equity is heavy in RSUs and refreshes matter.
