Has anyone gone through the Airbnb process as an international applicant? I'm in London, applying for roles on the US team. Their careers page is a bit vague on remote vs. hybrid vs. relocation-required.
I know post-2023 they pulled back some of the remote flexibility they had during the pandemic years. But I've also seen job postings that don't specify an office requirement.
Mostly wondering: do they ask about relocation intent early in the process, or does it come up later? And is there any current appetite for EU-based hires on US product teams? The visa/sponsorship question alone is enough to make me hesitate before spending 5+ hours on their loop.

i went through their loop (from the US, on H1B) and the sponsorship question came up in the very first recruiter screen. they asked directly whether i needed visa support. for what it's worth they said yes for the role i was applying to but i've heard that varies a lot by team and headcount situation. would recommend asking the recruiter directly before you get deep into the process. don't wait.

worked with Airbnb reqs in a previous life. The short answer: US product teams generally expect SF Bay Area presence, even if it's hybrid. Remote-friendly roles exist but they're usually on infrastructure/platform teams with less timezone sensitivity. I'd email the recruiter after the first screen and just ask the direct question. You'll lose maybe a week if the answer is no, but that's better than 5 rounds.
